LTVA Bulletin – January

Welcome to the January edition of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority’s South Shore Bulletin. Our goal is to highlight tourism trends, strategy, initiatives, and programs that increase visitor awareness, support our community and environment, and strengthen our economy.

Happy New Year!

With the past few years being one challenge after another, we hope that the 2022-23 early winter season brings great commerce to our destination. In January, the LTVA hosts Operation Sierra Storm, a meteorologist conference that garners national live coverage.

In the spring of 2023, our basin-wide destination stewardship plan will be complete with a shared vision and action timeline that will benefit our environment, community and visitors. This plan will be incorporated into the LTVA strategic plan, under construction right now. Speaking of construction, stay tuned for more Tahoe Events Center milestones leading up to the opening in the summer of 2023! Wishing you all a very prosperous, happy and healthy New Year!

Sports Planner Page on VisitLakeTahoe.com

The idea to add content for sports planners came to us after seeing great success from our meeting planner hub pages, which have streamlined the online planning process by providing meeting-specific information, tools, and an RFP portal. The sports planner section is an interactive webpage where an event planner can easily find venues and services that fit their needs. This digital content enhances and complements current sales efforts to attract sporting events and tournaments to the destination. We’re excited to have implemented this helpful tool and look forward to providing an enhanced user experience.

Visit California UK Sales Mission

Visit California held the UK Sales & Media Mission the first week of December, which consisted of 20 Travel Trade and 15 PR delegates from multiple California destinations. Visit Lake Tahoe was represented by the Director of Leisure Sales, Juraj Sojka. Throughout the course of the week, delegates and guests were treated to a series of relationship-building activities, one-on-one meetings, and interactive events. The mission provided all delegates the opportunity to successfully engage with over 140 key industry insiders, strengthening valuable trade and media connections across the U.K. and Irish markets prior to the booking season that takes place right after the holidays.
