LTVA Bulletin – May

Visit Lake Tahoe Logo

Welcome to the May edition of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority’s South Shore Bulletin. Our goal is to highlight tourism trends, strategy, initiatives, and programs that increase visitor awareness, support our community and environment, and strengthen our economy.

National Travel and Tourism Week

National Travel and Tourism Week 2023 is celebrating its 40th anniversary next week, from May 7th through May 13th. The week celebrates the contributions of the U.S. Travel Industry, spotlighting the essential role that travel plays in driving economic growth and innovation through their theme #TravelForward. The LTVA will be taking to social media to spread awareness in our community and industry.

The LTVA is proud to be a part of this industry which is a proven catalyst for a productive U.S. economy and helps power the success of other industries. The U.S. Travel Industry generated $2.6 trillion in economic output in 2022 and supported 15 million jobs, fueling communities, small businesses and working families across the country.

Sales and Conference Update

In April the LTVA team traveled to multiple conferences spreading our message as a premier destination for meetings, conferences, and all else. Our Senior Director of Marketing & Business Development, Stuart Maas, along with our Director of Tourism, Juraj Sojka, and Sales Services Coordinator, Cameron Wiebe, went to Connect Marketplace in Las Vegas at the beginning of the month, where they had a Visit Lake Tahoe vendor booth, generating new connections as a valuable meeting destination. This included over 90 meeting requests with meeting planners and receptive tour operators.

During the week of April 17th, Stuart also went to Sonoma to participate in the CalSAE Elevate Conference where, as a sponsor, he was able to provide a destination update to all attending California Association Meeting Planners.

Spring Marketing Campaign

Our Spring Campaign is live!  As of Friday April 28th, we launched the Spring Campaign to all markets, highlighting seasonal photos, activities, and opportunities. With historic snowfall still visible in our rear view, we postponed the full release of content to match our landscape correctly. Now, as we’re seeing consistently warmer weather and are truly transitioning seasons as a community, it was finally time to launch our Spring campaign.

LTVA’s Spring Campaign is being augmented to focus on special offers, ranging from lodging and dining specials, to deals on retail and activities. Our efforts have been towards positively driving Spring and Summer visitation, even in this unpredictable month of May where we find ourselves watching the most recent snowfall hit the ground.
