The safety of our customers, our employees, and our electric system is NV Energy’s number one priority. Due to changes in our climate and our environment, extreme weather and wildfire pose a significant threat to our customers and our system. To protect high-risk communities including Mt. Charleston and Lake Tahoe during extreme weather, NV Energy may shut off power for public safety in order to reduce the risk of a wildfire. This is called Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM).
