South Lake Tahoe’s new recreation center project to be delayed one year after council rejects bids. More information
Coming 2025, South Lake Tahoe Recreation & Aquatics Center.
Funded by South Lake Tahoe Tourist Occupancy Tax (TOT), the center will contain a competition swimming pool, a “lazy river” for water exercise, a gymnasium, second-floor walking lanes, senior nutrition services, and meeting rooms. A roof-top deck for events facing Lake Tahoe is also a feature of the new center.
El Dorado County owns most of the land in what is commonly known as the 56-Acres. The City of South Lake Tahoe’s lease on the property was set to expire so a new long-term agreement was reached
City Council and El Dorado County Board of Supervisors adopted resolutions outlining proposed terms for a new long-term agreement for the 56 acres land lease. Part of that agreement is 9,000 square feet of the new center dedicated to senior nutrition and senior center programs.
The project can be followed on a dedicated webpage for the site: https://southlaketahoereccenter.konveio.com/. A timeline showing the 12 years of steps is also included there.
