What would normally be major headline news in a safer time has become part of the community response to COVID-19. The Tahoe Transportation District (TTD), which manages bus transit on South Shore, announced this month they have zeroed out bus fares for everyone for the next two years.
Free service on all transit routes will make travel safer in response to COVID-19 by eliminating fare exchanges between transit operators and riders. This is an accelerated roll-out of TTD’s planned transition to a zero-fare program and will assist essential workers during this crisis. TTD has secured sufficient grant funding to operate a zero-fare transit program through May 31, 2022.
