As we celebrate our 15 year anniversary, we are excited to introduce our refreshed Tahoe Fund Strategic Plan.
With our 2020–2024 strategic plan winding down, the Tahoe Fund Board and Staff set out to update our priorities. We revisited our goals to ensure we are responding to shifting needs in the region, aligning our work with the priorities of our partners in the Basin, and preparing for the next five years ahead.
Since our last strategic planning process in 2019, our organization has grown significantly. This growth has not only increased our capacity, but enabled us to strengthen our impact and get even more done for Lake Tahoe.
This new plan builds on what we have spent the last decade-plus working toward: improving the Lake Tahoe environment for all to enjoy. We are proud to share that since our founding in 2010, we have leveraged over $30 million in private funds to secure more than $200 million in public funds for 220+ environmental projects.
Our work is not changing, instead we have honed our focus into three goal areas: The Forest, The Lake, and The Experience. We are prioritizing projects that reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire, improve the health of the lake, and make it easier to get around, enjoy, and take care of Lake Tahoe.
Alongside our partners, we are working on truly transformational projects like new Fire Smart Pilots to create fire ready communities across the Basin, the demolition of Motel 6 and restoration of the Upper Truckee River, and the expansion of the East Shore Trail to Spooner Summit.
Looking ahead to our future, we know that none of this work would be possible without the unwavering commitment of our donors and the collaboration of our local, state, and federal partners. Thanks to you, we will continue to take care of Lake Tahoe for generations to come.
