American Century Championship Recap |
The LTVA had a truly historic weekend as the destination sponsor for the 34th annual American Century Championship (July 12-16). An enormous congratulations to Stephen Curry for his incredible performance and for becoming the first African-American to hold the ACC title. Steph’s hole-in-one and walk-off eagle on hole 18 had all eyes on South Lake Tahoe. Along with having the largest television audience in 20 years, as well as setting an on-site attendance record, the tournament continues to accrue millions of views across social media channels; our partners at NBC alone saw over 54 million views on their social media platforms over the weekend of the tournament alone. The LTVA extends its heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this event, from the players and spectators to our valued partners at American Century Investments, NBC Sports, Edgewood Tahoe Resort, and all those behind the scenes. As we look back on the tournament, we feel truly proud and grateful for being part of such a wonderful occasion. The 34th annual American Century Championship will be remembered as a milestone event, and we look forward to the continued growth and success of this tournament in the years to come. |
Ice Hockey Team Announcement |
In a significant development for the local sports community, South Lake Tahoe is set to become the 29th member of the ECHL hockey league, exclusively hosting a professional hockey team. This exciting venture comes to fruition through a collaborative partnership between entrepreneur and former NFL quarterback, Tim Tebow, and Hodges Management Group LLC. The addition of this professional hockey team not only promises great entertainment for sports enthusiasts but also presents an opportunity to strengthen our local economy and foster community growth. Additionally, the team’s engagement with local schools and charitable initiatives will strengthen our community fabric, leaving a positive and lasting impact on the residents of South Lake Tahoe. |
Destination Stewardship |
Following the creation of the Destination Stewardship Council – a diverse group of local destination, land management, and non-profit organizations – the LTVA is proud to help introduce the Lake Tahoe Destination Stewardship Plan, a strategy that unifies all stakeholders under a common vision for the area’s recreation and tourism framework. The LTVA and collaborating partners aim to protect the majesty of Lake Tahoe, while letting it be a place where individuals, communities, and the natural environment interact and prosper harmoniously, and is accessible to all. The LTVA is committed to seeing the Lake Tahoe Destination Stewardship Plan through to its fullest potential. We firmly believe that this plan represents not only the future of sustainable tourism and recreation but also a responsibility to preserve the magnificence of Lake Tahoe for generations to come. We are grateful for the support and collaboration from the Destination Stewardship Council and all stakeholders involved. |
Sales Update |
Senior Director of Marketing & Business Development, Stuart Maas, recently attended our first Esports Travel Summit, globally recognized as the largest assembly of Esports event organizers. The summit offered a wealth of one-on-one appointments, as well as compelling educational and innovative networking opportunities. The three-day event in Toronto yielded significant exposure and awareness of Visit Lake Tahoe in this emergent market. It also created an opportunity to procure tournaments for the soon-to-open Tahoe Blue Event Center. |
