Welcome to the December edition of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority’s South Shore Bulletin. Our goal is to highlight tourism trends, strategy, initiatives, and programs that increase visitor awareness, support our community and environment, and strengthen our economy.

Events Center Naming

The Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority (TDVA) and Oak View Group (OVG), the global venue development, advisory, and investment company for both the sports and live entertainment industries, announced an exclusive multi-year naming rights agreement with Tahoe Blue Vodka, the world’s only vodka crafted from the pristine water of Lake Tahoe. The highly anticipated live entertainment, sports and conference center on the south shore of Lake Tahoe will be named the Tahoe Blue Center. Located in Stateline, NV, the Tahoe Blue Center is projected to open in July 2023 and host 130 events annually.

Conference Sales Update

Since the new fiscal year commenced in July, Stuart Maas, Director of Marketing & Conference Sales, has attended seven hosted buyer trade shows, resulting in 180 one-to-one appointments with meeting and sports planners. These ongoing sales efforts have increased awareness and lead generation for South Shore lodging properties and the Tahoe Blue Center, including definite bookings as far out as 2024.

Inbound request for proposals (RFP) submissions through Cvent and have seen substantial growth with the assistance of premium listings and paid partnerships through third-party planners, including HelmsBriscoe, Conference Direct, and HPN.

Leveraging the recent Visit California investment in the ‘Meet What’s Possible’ business to business campaign showcasing the Golden State, Visit Lake Tahoe received complimentary advertising in the current Meetings & Conventions issue.

Heavenly Holidays

Heavenly Holidays Family Festival is returning to South Lake Tahoe for another year of holiday fun for adults and children alike. The event will run from November 25th to December 31st in Heavenly Village and features a variety of holiday activities. There’s a daily tree-lighting ceremony, an ice sculpture contest, breakfast with Santa, a chance to meet your favorite Disney characters, a winter film festival, ferris wheel, and more. All of this leads up to a New Year’s Eve celebration featuring an awesome fireworks show with great live music from the Gin Blossoms. It will be hard to hide from holiday cheer in South Lake Tahoe this season!
